Lyla Van Dam has been drawing and painting since she was a child. Art, drafting and creative classes were always the highlights of her school day.
Being self taught, the years went by working and raising a family. A successful Interior Designer and business owner, Lyla returned to art in 2019, working in the watercolour medium and later she moved onto heavy and soft body Acrylics, and fell in love with this medium.
Being an Interior Designer, colour, shape, contrast and visual interest steer her artwork. Especially colour is the predominant player, bringing happiness and joy to her work. Florals allow for the expression of beauty and vibrancy and dipping into a light abstract way of painting allows for free expression of bold colours and unique results.
Lyla loves how a piece of artwork can complete a space and be a constant reminder of something that you love.
